Elon Musk, the well-known entrepreneur and innovator, has recently made headlines with the creation of a new company dedicated to artificial intelligence called X.AI. Reports suggest that Musk has been purchasing thousands of graphic processing units (GPUs) for an upcoming generative AI product and has sought funding from investors associated with SpaceX, the space exploration company he founded, to get the new venture off the ground.

The X.AI name matches the branding of the X Corp. name he has assigned to Twitter, along with the "X" label he has applied to his vision of an "everything app." This move into the AI space has been rumored for some time and comes amid Musk's public criticism of OpenAI, an AI organization he co-founded in 2015 but later walked away from in 2018.

Musk has been vocal about his concerns regarding the potential dangers of artificial intelligence, signing a letter calling for a pause on "giant AI experiments." While the exact details of X.AI's offerings have yet to be revealed, the company's focus on AI and Musk's track record of disrupting industries make it an intriguing development to watch.
